Downs Rugby Junior Sign on dates announced

This year Downs Rugby is moving Teenage Rugby competition to Sundays. Teenage Rugby now becomes more accessible.

With a change in the school rugby calendar, rugby at Downlands and Toowoomba Grammar has now moved to the third term of the school year. This will enable greater participation from these schools as previously the local rugby competition would have clashed with school rugby programmes. Further the local competition has been moved to a Sunday to get away from the Friday night which traditionally has been crowded with other school and sport commitments.

This situation has heralded a new beginning for the local teenage rugby union competition which kicks off on Sunday, 12 February. Any boys looking to get involved in teams from nder 13 to under 17 should contact their local club to register and train. The contacts are listed below.

The timing couldn’t be better to play rugby with the focus well an truly on the sport as last year’s champions the Reds look to replicate their success and the Wallabies looking to leverage off their credible third place in last year’s world cup.

The teenage competition will run through Terms 1 and 2 and will culminate in the selection of Darling Downs squads in the under 13 to under 17 age groups to contest the prestigious Queensland Junior State Championships in Brisbane in September where our local champions will do battle with the best rugby players in the state.
